Aging, Midlife, Menopause

Dr. Whiten works with clients of both genders on the psychological issues surrounding aging and mortality, both individually and in couples work. There are many changes in values and priorities which are difficult for many to navigate and need to be processed. She is also well versed in issues related to perimenopause (usually in a woman's 40's) and menopause.

Midlife and older age are when many people struggle with the meaning of their lives. They feel newly motivated to work on themselves and their relationships. Relationship issues feel worse when kids leave the house, contributing to "gray divorce." Many people feel the clock is ticking down and they want to finally feel integrated and aligned in their values, actions, and relationships.

Those who struggle with unresolved trauma and self esteem issues find aging particularly difficult. If you feel that you have not lived as fulfilling a life as you wanted overall, it can make you depressed and anxious to think about your life being finite.

If any of these issues resonate with you, therapy can help you gain insight into what is going on, make links between your past and present, and create a future that feels more authentic and integrated.
